Jim
Glover, born is Harlem, is a Clio award winning advertising writer whose career
spans some 30 years in the ad business. Jim has held prestigious positions in
some of the world's most notable ad agencies.
Trained
at Young & Rubican, New York, he moved to Chicago to work on the McDonald's
account for Burrell Communications, then Needham, Harper and Steers and finally
Leo Burnett Company.With over
thirteen years of fast food experience, Jim opened up his own agency Glover
& Potter, Inc., soon acquiring Denny's, Roy Rogers, Hardee's and the El
Pollo Loco accounts.
Much
later, Jim worked as Vice President, Director of Relationship Marketing for
Foote, Cone & Belding, Chicago. Upon reconnecting with an old friend, Carol
Williams, he moved on to the position of Creative Director on the Allstate
business for Carol H. Williams Advertising in her Chicago office.
They
say write what you know and as you can see Jim knows the ad business. His long
experience on Madison and Michigan Avenues and his familiarity with the racism
prevalent in the business makes him uniquely qualified to write a novel like
Mad Man. Though Mad Man is fiction, it is a true depiction of what was and
still are every day occurrences in the advertising business.
Jim
Glover, the mind behind some of America's most memorable advertising campaigns
has put that creative genius to work on bringing us a truly insightful novel.
He sincerely hopes you enjoy Mad Man as a novel and not necessarily an
indictment of the ad business. Like any other writer he is more concerned about
being a good writer than an activist.
Today
Jim, resides in Chicago with his wife Linda where he is working on his upcoming
novel.
